Sonny Froman comments on Lunar Percussion Snare Drums.

I have owned two Lunar Percussion Snares since 2004 (One Mango Snare drum & a Koa Snare Drum) the Mango snare gives me the warm sound I need, but it also projects the sound. In fact I have had sound engineers ask me what type of snare I was using while working with the Honolulu Symphony Pops, they stated the snares had a very distinct sound they liked and the snare rim had a very deep cross stick sound. Both the Mango and the Koa Snares tune very easily with no annoying over-rings in tone.

The difference between the Mango Snare and the Koa snare is that the Mango snare has a warm dark sound, great for Jazz. The Koa is a brighter sound that projects more than the Koa snare, great for Rock and Pop.

I have also use the Mango Snare in a recording situation, with brushes (Background music the National TV Show “NORTH SHORE”)

The Koa and the Mango also have been used in performances with the Jim Nabors Christmas Show, Yvonne Ellerman,

The Honolulu Symphony Pops, the Don Ho Show and the Betty Loo Taylor Trio. In fact one night with the Betty Loo Taylor Trio, there were a few drummers in the house and I tried both the Mango and Koa to get their impressions of the drums and they reinforced my thoughts about the snares.

Everyone from Sound Engineers to Musicians, love the sound of the Lunar Percussion drums and comments were that the drums, have a great tone, speak very, very well, have a very deep, killer cross-stick sound.

The sound man actually walked on stage after a performance and asked what kind of snare I was using.

Some of his comments were that it sounded studio quality, it speaks out and the side stick was a killer also that it beat any sampled sound that he had in his arsenal. "

Lunar Percussion has everything and more that I look for in a snare drum.
